COOL Survey

We created a survey and asked COOL members questions regarding the COOL and its mission. These were some notable responses from the many who answered.

Why are you pro-life?

I am pro-life because I believe that life begins at conception. When a woman becomes pregnant , people say that what is in her womb is simply a fetus, a clump of human cells, an embryo, or just a fertilized egg. While some of that may be true, they deny the fact that is in reality,  tiny human person, has life from the moment that he/she was conceived. God has their whole life ready for them. And that little child has just as much a right to live as you and me, no matter their condition. Doesn’t it seem strange to you that people can be sentenced to prison for life  because they killed someone, but doctors are committing the same crime and getting of scot-free? That can’t be right, and it isn’t. This is why I am pro-life.

Why do you attend the COOL?

Because it has helped me tremendously in becoming more passionately pro-life. It allows me to take action in this fight for the lives of the unborn and elderly. It has also been the source of much happiness because I see my friends and I get to say a full rosary and attend holy mass.

What makes the COOL stand out?

In order to understand what makes it stand out, you need to ascertain what group is it standing out. I’m gonna assume standing out from other pro-life groups. The COOL stands out because it is a city wide, youth lead and runned for solely the pro-life cause in accordance with the Catholic Faith.

What all does the COOL do for the pro-life cause?

The COOL helps the pro-life cause mainly with prayer but also by being a witness at the March for Life in Washington DC and the Rally for Life in Austin and by assisting others like being servers at the Loving Choice Gala and Clergy Appreciation Night.

How organized is the COOL?

The COOL is organized in an interesting way. The fact that the leadership changes every year forces the COOL to continually adapt to the circumstances. Nonetheless, the COOL is able to raise tens of thousands of dollars a year for the many organized activities that it does.

What is your favorite memory in the COOL?

My favorite memories with the COOL are walking a couple of miles in the cold to attend Mass at a small neighborhood church on the day of the March for Life in Washington DC in 2022 and singing at a Mass for a huge amount of pilgrims from Minnesota with only a night’s notice on the Washington DC March for Life trip in 2023, and spending time with my friends and having an impromptu dance while serving at the Loving Choice Gala in 2022.

How has the COOL affected your life?

The COOL has literally changed the course of my life. Without the COOL, my family wouldn’t have discovered Walsingham and without Walsingham, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. Funny how small changes makes a big impact in the future.

Is the COOL’s work a little less because of the overturning of Roe?

Not at all. Even though the Houston- area is home to the COOL, we seek to end abortion everywhere, especially in the U.S.A. While the overturning of Roe was very important, our work is not done! Many states have chosen to keep abortion legal, and we must fight to stop this. Prayer is our most valuable weapon, especially the full rosary, containing all 20 mysteries. This is what the COOL prays every month at Planned Parenthood. Even though in Texas they do not perform abortions anymore, they are still training students, and sending them to other states.

What does the COOL plan to do in the future for the pro-life cause?

To continue to pray and advocate for the unborn lives
